What folks are saying
Mike Fichter has been one of my heroes for some time, but now that I’ve read his book, “Viability”, he’s now a Super Hero. I speak all over the United States, and in my travels for the past 13 years, I’ve heard one request over and over again: “Tell us what to do, and how to do it, and tell us in a way we can understand.” Well this is it folks — this book does all that and more. In “Viability”, Mike shows us our past as a Movement. He walks us through our growing pains, explaining what worked and what did not work. But most important, he shows us our future, as it could be, by explaining, in easily understood terms, all that we need to do to “Survive And Thrive”.
This book is a must-read for everyone in the Pro-Life Movement.

History buff and activist in the life movement, Mike Fichter takes a look at the history of an aging patient, the Right To Life Movement, and finds its pulse to be weak. Its history reveals the Movement has had its injections of hope and its close encounters with potential demise. With conviction and passion, Fichter dissects the reasons for concern and prescribes 7 Keys to keep the movement viable. Life is dependent upon the course of action taken. I’m signing up to be a caregiver. How about you?

Viability hit home to me on so many levels. From laughing in my seat at the chapter on relevancy (I think many of us can relate to the difficulties inherent in forming and leading relevant committees and work in the movement), to quietly reflecting on the chapter on prayer, I appreciate Mike’s thoughtful analysis on where we’ve come and where we need to continue to head in the life movement to effectively and successfully create lasting change.
Out of all of Mike’s poignant points in Viability, what most resounded with me was the chapter on unity. No matter where I head in the U.S. or Canada to share my personal testimony and advocate for the rights of unborn children like myself, concerns are raised by individuals and groups that I meet with about the disjointed and oftentimes, conflicting or competing organizations and individuals in the life movement and the negative impact this has on working towards the common goal of protecting and respecting life and our basic foundations as a movement.
Although I would highly recommend Mike’s book to any reader interested or involved in the life movement, I would like to personally challenge our next generation of leaders to read it and use it to further lead the life movement into the next phase of our fight in respecting and protecting all lives.

I got to know Mike Fichter while serving as a resource Manager at Focus on the Family. Mike is well-known as one of the most dedicated, innovative and energetic people working in pro-life efforts. His knowlege and dedication is surpassed only by his heart for reaching our culture with messages of life. His perspective on this issue comes from many years of experience working in the trenches. When Mike Fichter speaks, we should all listen.

Thank you for your incredible book on the state of the pro-life movement! It should be read by every person who fights for the “right of the unborn to live.” Your book gives me great hope for the future.

Voice for Life
Leadership is an elusive quality that is hard to define, and good leadership even more so. But I believe I know it when I see it, and over the last two decades I’ve seen Mike Fichter provide that quality of direction to the Right to Life movement, both at a local and state level. So when he speaks about the future of the movement, I know it will be worth listening to.
